Paula Young, Founder, President, and Andrew’s Mother
Andrew was my firstborn, the man who loved me first and unconditionally, with a love that carried me through the universe and back. When he loved, he loved hard. He was incredibly passionate about so many things: sports, family, and his beloved cat, Jax. When we lost him unexpectedly from illicit fentanyl because it was in his marijuana, he was not aware that it was laced. Last March 2022, our world stopped. I am broken, with all the pieces everywhere and no means of being fixed. My husband and I immediately knew we needed to continue Andrew’s dream/vision of Achieve Greatness with every being that I have left in my body.
Having been in Human Resources for over 25 years as an Executive, but having a BA in HR Management and International Business in no way prepared me for the loss of my son. Achieve Greatness not only focuses on building community through sports but also brings forth awareness/advocacy/education about fentanyl poisoning. I hope many people will join our movement and remember that “somebody has to stand when others are sitting, and somebody has to speak when others are quiet.” We can all achieve greatness by coming together to stop other innocent lives from being poisoned and loved ones from being ripped away from our families.
